Board of Directors Meeting

January 3, 2000

The monthly meeting of the Avocet Board of Directors was called to order at 7:00PM on Monday, January 3^rd, 2000, at the Avocet Clubhouse with all Board members present along with a representative from the Information Committee.

Minutes of the 12/06/99-board meeting were read and approved.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Sports Committee

• Tennis committee is in the process of purchasing new windscreen webbing and squeegees.

 Pool Committee

• Maintenance contract with Sears for the year ahead has been signed.

• Still investigating the cost of replacing the fence around the pool as current fence is inadequate.

Architecture Committee

• No recommendations or approvals were identified to the BOD.

Finance Committee

• Insurance coverage for year 2000 has been approved.

• The committee will give their capital forecast report to the BOD at the next board meeting in February.

Information Committee

• Agreed that it is necessary to develop the means of promoting the Avocet website.

• Need to acquire an updated homeowner directory from Sue Juliano.

• Need to move forward on remodeling the information board at the entrance to Clubhouse drive.

 Kids Club Committee

• Breakfast with Santa was a well-attended successful event. 

• Next event will be the Spring Festival/Egg Hunt.

Security Committee

• Selected the McGruff Child Safety presentation in February and possibly link to a Valentines Day event.

• Recommended a pizza social for the Block Captains in order to reinforce and improve our COPS program.

Social Committee

• Approved expense of $373.90 for Holiday Party.

• Agreed to proceed with plans for a Super Bowl party.

• Declined on recommendation to purchase another 6 foot long table for clubhouse.

Covenants Committee

• No report.  Still digesting new documents and community recommendations.

Landscape Committee

• Approved expense of $2,300 to expand sprinkler system to Clubhouse drive and make necessary repairs.

OLD BUSINESS

• Covered in above stated committee reports

NEW BUSINESS

• Agreed to look into complaints of BFI containers being left in driveways and sides of homes.

• Agreed that there is a need to have the plumbing in the ceiling above the poolroom re-routed so as to give easy access to shut-off valves, thus avoiding the possibility of major damage if a pipe breaks.

• Homeowner dues coupon books went out with errors.  Agreed to extend the due date for the first quarter of year 2000 to January 31, 2000.  If paid beyond 1/31/2000, a late fee will be charged.

The next meeting of the Avocet BOD was scheduled for Monday, February 3rd, 2000, starting at 7:00PM at the Avocet clubhouse.
