Board of Directors Meeting 
August 28, 2000

The monthly meeting of the Avocet Board of Directors was called to order at 6:00PM on Monday, August 28th, 2000, at the Avocet Clubhouse with Andrew Goodspeed presiding, Lara Foreman and Frank Boduch present.

Minutes of the 8/7/2000 Board meeting were read and accepted on the motion of Lara. Seconded by Andrew.

COMMENTS FROM THE FLOOR - Bob Elliott in attendance to present the initial 2001 budget proposal.

COMMITTEE REPORTS 

Sports Committee - No report

Pool Committee - Pool Committee recommended search for new pool management company due to less than satisfactory performance by Sears Pool Services.

Finance Committee - Bob Elliott presented a draft of the 2001 proposed budget and capital reserve estimates. Discussion indicated need for minor tweaking. Frank and Andrew to complete final budget preparations for submission to the full board for final approval.

Information Committee - No new news.

Architecture Committee - No new news.

Kids Club Committee - Still waiting for details and budget to cover the cost of this year's Halloween party.

Security Committee - No new news.

Landscape Committee - Recommended having the Landscaping Committee secure competitive bids to landscape the McRae & Stoltz property. Lara to follow-up.

Social Committee - No new news.

Covenants Committee - Committee has met to act on final recommendations from attorney for new covenants. BOD will determine course of action for presenting to community.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

• Established date for Annual Meeting and election of new officers for Wednesday, September 30, 2000, at 7:00PM, at the clubhouse. Andrew to notify Sue Juliano and arrange for mailing of notices, forms, and copy of approved budget. 
• Agreed to announce completion of work on proposed new Covenants, Bi-laws, and Articles of Incorporation at Annual Meeting. Will hold Town Hall Meeting on Thursday, October 26th to explain changes. o Will post draft of new documents of Avocet-HOA.com website. o Will send flyers announcing Town Hall meeting. o Official documents will be released to the community on November 6, 2000. o Voting by the community will commence on November 6, 2000. o Voting will end on November 27, or later if deemed appropriate by the Covenants Committee. 
• No reply from McRae & Stoltz regarding their lot and lack of maintenance. Now 60 days overdue. Legal advise/assistance is next step. Andrew will follow-up. 
• Still need a source for doing repair and maintenance projects. Will require assistance from Sue Juliano. Andrew to follow-up.

NEW BUSINESS 

• Approved the resurfacing of the four tennis courts. Motioned by Andrew. Seconded by Lara. Will schedule after the close of the fall tennis season. 
• Approved Community Service Awards for four members of the Avocet Community who made significant contributions of effort and services during the past year. Each will be awarded with a $50 gift certificate at the Annual Meeting.

The next meeting of the Avocet BOD will be that of the Annual Homeowners meeting which is scheduled for Wednesday, September 27th, 2000, starting at 7:00PM at the Avocet Clubhouse.

The motion to adjourn this meeting was made by Andrew and seconded by Lara. Meeting ended at 8:15PM.
