Avocet BOD Minutes from
August 5, 2002
The meeting was called to order at 7:08p.m. The meeting minutes from July
were approved. Andrew Goodspeed, Sarb Khalsa, and Lisa Wells were present.
Comments from the floor:
Our law firm sent the requirements letter to McRae and Stolz about the new
home being built. We have not received a reply as of this writing.
Brandon Stokes, a tennis coach employed by some Avocet tennis teams, was
present and pitched the idea of becoming the Avocet Tennis "Pro". He was
proposing to use the tennis courts from 3-6p.m. to teach juniors in and out of
the neighborhood. He offered to pay a monthly rent for the use of the courts.
Bill Wells and Brandon agreed to put together a proposal for consideration by
the Board.
Unfinished business:
Maintenance issues:
The lower pavilion repairs to the hardiplank were to be completed this week.
Deterrent possibilities were discussed and rejected for now. New signs
detailing the Association rules regarding use of the pool and tennis courts are
to be arranged by the pool and sports committees respectively, through Today
Management. A Private Property sign will be posted at the entrance to the
amenity area.
The water/drainage problem in the clubhouse persists. The ground around it
needs to be regraded to prevent future flooding, while satisfying requirements
for the termite bond. Andrew will contact Bruce regarding this issue.
The mirrors in the bathrooms have been secured. The ceiling in the clubhouse
still needs repairing.
Improvements:
The locks on the tennis courts were to be installed on 8-6.
The new flooring in the bathrooms and kitchen will be installed on 8-12.
$2350 was approved between meetings for pump room improvements proposed by
Aqua Blue.
Quote for windscreens from Southeastern Tennis Courts was $3801.60 and $750
for a new logo. Bill Wells will get quotes from other companies for
comparison.
Dave Lohrmann of the pool and finance committees discussed the budget outlook
for 2002-2003, and current pool issues. Lara Foreman of the landscape committee
discussed ideas for improving the entrance to Avocet, and for some additional
landscaping of common property; a $5000 estimate was proffered, with details to
be proposed.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30.
