Avocet BOD Meeting Minutes Rescheduled for
November 29, 2004
Call to order
Approval of minutes
Comments from the floor (15 minutes)
- There were no other members of the neighborhood association
present.
Committee reports
- Sports - Center light and resurfacing continues.
- Pool - Closed. Beth will ask Tony a few questions about the pumps and the
grout.
- Finance - We have so many costly repairs this year. (the pool grommets, the
covers, the drainage issues, the flooded clubhouse, the ditch behind the
clubhouse, the playground) that in order to repair the ones that are the most
pressing, mainly the drainage problem at the pool and the clubhouse, we will not
have enough funds to cover the repairs. After surveying the surrounding
neighborhood associations, we were all in agreeance that our dues are much below
the average along with the fact that they have only been raised one time in the
last 10 years. After a few rough estimates, we decided to raise the dues to $40
per month. This ends up being a total of $100 per year per household.
- Information - Mike Frintner to assume Webmaster responsibilities.
- Architecture - Rotating chairperson quarterly, starting with Laura
Lohrmann.
- Kids - Kids Club Santa canceled? Kids club still does not have a person to
chair this committee. The clubhouse is no longer available so the neighborhood
Christmas party will have to be moved elsewhere.
- Landscape - Drainage issues- this is a big part of the reason for the raise
in the dues. We are talking to an engineer and with the county to see what our
long term plan needs to be. We want to make sure that we are not just placing a
‘band - aid’ on these problems and make sure they are corrected in a manner so
that once we address that particular problem, that we will not create another
problem down the road.
- Security - Nothing new.
- Social - Canceled? The meeting will be moved to 7PM on December 10th to
discuss the raise in association dues.
- Ad hoc sign committee - Inactive?
Old Business
- Playground safety/improvement - Rachel has been talking to a few
different companies about a new playground, however, the clubhouse and
flooding problems and taking priority over this. The total for the
playground is looking like it will be in the neighborhood of $25,000.
- $400 for Kids Club Santa event - first Saturday in December,
9-11:30
- Mosquito issues - we will talk to the civil engineer about this as
well.
New Business
- Clubhouse flooding, rodent problem, repairs - the clubhouse is now
closed. It will be closed until further notice.
- S. Old Peachtree plans - the county is going to widen the road and
install and 5 foot paved path from Medlock Bridge Road to Pickneyville Park.
It will be a multi-purpose path that will run on our side of the
street.
- Letter sent to owner on unapproved house painting. Today Management will
notify them for the next step.
- Other
