Committee reports

  1. Sports - Still working with Talbot to get work finished around inclement weather. Majority of funds still being held. The squeegees (rollers) need to be replaced after each use, they have, in the past been left out. It is the teams responsibility to make sure that they are put away.
  2. Pool - There is no activity with the pool. however, the chairs and lounge chairs that we have for the pool currently are going to either need to be replaced or re-strapped. Depending on the condition of the frames. There is a chance that we can salvage the frames but it all depends on the cost of "re-strapping". It may not be cost effective to have this done.
  3. Finance - No activity
  4. Information - The residents at the front of the neighborhood have voiced their concerns about moving the info board to the front of the neighborhood. They already have a lot of extra traffic with people turning around after pulling in of of South old Peachtree. They would rather keep the board in its' current location, this means as far as communication that people who do not drive past the information board either need to join the forum or go down to the information board periodically to keep abreast.
  5. Architecture - No activity
  6. Kids - Defunct. If anyone wants to volunteer to chair the kids committee, it will be welcomed by all. Beth Ostipauk has a very organized record of all the companies she has established contacts with and will pass all of the info along to make the job easier.
  7. Landscape - Collecting information on three landscaping companies. The landscape committee has received three estimates from Gardensmith, Creative Lawnscaping and Adamma LandscapeGroup. The lowest bidder was Creative Lawnscaping and is used by a few people in the neighborhood so he also came with references. Blake was present at this meeting and having a person representing the Landscape committee, it was decided that Creative Lawnscaping would get the contract. The owners' name is Charlie and he does all of the work himself.
  8. Security - No activity
  9. Social - No activity
  10. Drainage - Disbanded. This committee was not fulfilling the mission to assist the BOD at our direction so the committee was dissolved. The board will take over the responsibilities from this point forward.
  11. Management Review - TMI is in the process of reviewing current covenants as well as composing a list of what we expect from a property management company. Blake has built a table to help with this process.

Old Business

  • $5400 estimated for pool needs prior to opening. Decision tabled for now.
  • ComCast cable service at the clubhouse possible if a homeowner that backs up to it would okay running it through their yard. Decision tabled for now.
  • 2005 budget revisited.

New Business

  • Bruce spent several hours at the Gwinnett County courthouse and turned up 5 permits and some other artifacts. Andy combed through some of the documents from the transition and found a few that are helpful.
  • There appears to be no provision for the Association setting standards for property within Avocet beyond items specifically covered by the covenants, such as yard maintenance. Amending the by-laws could establish such a capacity, and is reasonable on the requirements for doing so.
  • Other - none

Next meeting, March 2, 2005 at 7 PM, presumably in the clubhouse
