Mission
The Nominating Committee is established by Article
V Section 1 of the By-laws of
Avocet.
Our stated purpose is:
- Establish a Code of Conduct for Candidates and Committee Members
- Develop & Maintain Procedures for the Annual Meeting Election
Process
- Provide information to the Community about the Annual Meeting Election
Process, and Board Candidates in an Unbiased and Fair Format
- Provide information to the candidates on the governing documents of the
community, their responsibilities as members of the Board, the Role of
Committees in assisting the Board, Outstanding Issues that will carry
over
Code of Conduct
We believe a code of conduct for both committee members and candidates is
required to maintain a fair and even playing field and to discourage divisive
campaigning. Committee members who violate the Code of Conduct will be required
to step down from the committee. Candidates who violate the Code of Conduct will
no longer receive support from the committee.
Committee Members
- Members shall not attempt to influence the position of candidates.
- A member who chooses to run for the board must resign their position with
the committee prior to doing so.
- Members will give equal support to all candidates.
Candidates
- Candidates who are sponsored by the Nominating Committee will not engage in
any negative campaigning or the distribution of false or misleading
information.
- Any campaign material distributed independently by a candidate must be
distributed to every member of the community, including other candidates.
- Solicitation of proxies is prohibited.
